Not only is prison reform at the top of Kim Kardashian’s to-do list, now she’s taking aim at California’s death penalty.
“For the last year, I have immersed myself in learning about the criminal justice system,” Kardashian, 38, tweeted late Tuesday night. “I visited prisons, met with formerly incarcerated people, and helped with cases of individual unjust – including two death penalty cases.”
The reality star says she met with California Governor Gavin Newsom and is supportive of his decision to end the death penalty in the Golden State.

On Wednesday, Gov. Newsom announced he’s halting the death penalty – giving a reprieve to some 737 death row inmates, reports The Sacramento Bee.
“Racial bias and unfairness run deep throughout the justice system, but especially when it comes to the death penalty,” she added. “And we should not be okay with the risk that an innocent person could be executed. I hope we can turn toward better solutions that focus more on healing victims of trauma and prioritizing fairness and justice.”
In 2018, Kardashian convinced President Donald Trump to commute Alice Marie Johnson’s life prison sentence for a non-violent drug crime. By the fall she had taken on another case in which a man name Chris Young was sentenced to life in prison for marijuana and cocaine possession. She also promised to cover a released prisoner’s rent for five years.

Kardashian did casually say in 2016 that if her schedule ever slowed down, she wanted to go to law school. “Just something I can do in my older age,” she said.
