Kate Middleton Spreads Irish Cheer on St. Patrick’s Day

After a luxurious “second honeymoon” with husband Prince William, it was back to work for the Duchess of Cambridge — and what better way to take care of business than by celebrating a holiday that many associate with brews and partying? READ: Prince William and Kate Middleton's Luxurious 'Second Honeymoon' There was no debauchery to be found here, as Kate Middleton participated in the St. Patrick’s Day festivities in the most royal way possible: by passing out shamrocks to Irish guards at Aldershot for their annual parade. According to E! Online, the 32-year-old pinned 300 shamrocks on the officers’ uniforms while William, dressed to the nines in his own military attire, watched proudly. “The tradition of presenting shamrocks to the Irish Guards dates back to 1901 and has traditionally been performed by Queen Elizabeth II,” explains the celebrity news site. “Kate and William have happily assumed this royal role in recent years, though.” READ: Were William and Kate Snubbed By the Maori King of New Zealand? Of course, no St. Patrick’s Day would be complete without drinks. While Middleton kept it safe last year with orange juice (she was pregnant with Prince George), The Daily Record is reporting that this year, she kept it classy by enjoying champagne. Meanwhile, the Guardsmen and Lance Corporals were more traditional, toasting the royal couple with “cans of lager and small glasses of Irish sherry.” There’s one other thing we have to address, and no, it’s not the giant Irish wolfhound that greeted the Duchess. While The Daily Record reveals that Middleton did not recycle her festive green wardrobe like she’s done in the past, it does look a little too similar to us. PHOTOS: How to Recycle Your Wardrobe Like Mate Middleton “Kate Middleton opted for head-to-toe green, but instead of recycling the outfit we’ve seen her wear before on St. Patrick’s Day, she wore a pine green coat from Hobbs,” says the UK-based news site. “Kate wore a black belt over her coat today to emphasize her tiny waist and she accessorized with emerald green court shoes.” Check out the beloved Brit spreading Irish cheer below, as well as some of her (almost) copycat looks from previous years:
