John Legend said in a new interview he believes President-elect Donald Trump's "Hitler-like" rhetoric could turn the United States into Nazi Germany.
"I feel like it's dangerous for us to be complacent. It's dangerous for us to think that it couldn't happen to us like it happened to Germany in the '30s and '40s," Legend said during a Hollywood Reporter roundtable Thursday.
"Trump is saying Hitler-level things in public," Legend added. "The world and America have done some atrocious things in the past, and we could do it again if we had the wrong leadership and if people of conscience don’t speak up."
Singer-songwriter Tori Amos agreed with Legend during the roundtable.
"We all have to deal with the DSA, the Divided States of America," she said.
Legend, who was an avid Hillary Clinton supporter, has called Trump a "racist" on social media and even got into a heated Twitter feud with Donald Trump Jr.
.@DonaldJTrumpJr I think they were protesting your racist father. This isn't complicated.— John Legend (@johnlegend) March 12, 2016
