The Harlem Globetrotters are offering free tickets to furloughed federal works after the partial government shutdown left some 800,000 employees without a paycheck.
Globetrotter President Howard Smith issued a statement Wednesday announcing that government employees will be offered two complimentary game tickets as long as the shutdown continues.

“As the Ambassadors of Goodwill, we want to show our support to all those government workers whose paychecks, and by extension their families, are directly impacted,” Smith said.
Federal workers will be able to see the players in their 250 appearances across North America as a part of their 2019 Fan Powered World Tour.

The shutdown continues as Democrats remain opposed to Trump's demand for $5.7 billion to fund a border wall. In the meantime, federal employees received pay stubs with nothing but zeros on them last week. Some posted photos of their empty earnings statements on social media as a rallying cry to end the standoff.
The White House signed a bill Wednesday that will require the furloughed federal employees to be compensated for wages lost or work performed during the shutdown.
