Disney fans, rejoice: “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” will be returning to the big screen in a soon-to-come live-action remake.
The remake will be produced by Mandeville Films and Josh Gad, who voiced the character Olaf in the blockbuster “Frozen.” Tony-award winning David Henry Hwang is slated to pen the script, while Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz will reportedly write the music for the film.
Menken worked on the original score for the 1996 film, according to Deadline, while Schwartz has made his mark on well-known musicals such as “Wicked” and “Godspell.”
No casting decisions have been made at this time.
Several other Disney live-action remakes are said to be released this year, including “Aladdin,” “The Lion King” and “Dumbo.”
