Forget the Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval. Netflix saidtoday at the International CES consumer electronics confab, that it will start to endorse TV sets “to help consumers identify televisions built for a superior Internet TV experience.”

“We’ve created the Netflix Recommended TV program to help consumers identify smart TVs that offer better performance, easier menu navigation and new features that improve the experience for Internet TV services” Netflix Chief Product Officer Neil Hunt says. “When you see a TV with the Netflix Recommended TV logo, it means that TV will provide an excellent Netflix experience, based on criteria our members tell us matter most. “

Netflix Chief Streaming and Partnership Officer Greg Peters touted the program at LG’s presentation of its upcoming TV sets this morning. But the streaming video company says that by the spring the logo should also appear on TVs from Sony, Sharp, and VIZIO, as well models that include Roku TV.

The endorsement “recognizes consumer benefits including turning the TV on instantly, faster app launch and faster resume of video playback,” the company says, The program will begin in the U.S. and will spread to other countries. Netflix says it will endorse TVs “at many different price points and screen sizes.”
