The Moscow Times reports that Russia's security service is currently road testing a new high performance truck for use in counter-terrorism, border patrol and internal security, menacingly called The Punisher.![punisher_2_660]()
Built by armored vehicle specialist ZiL on a Kamaz chassis also used for Dakar Rally racing trucks, the 26,000-pound Punisher is powered by a 730 hp turbocharged diesel and has a top speed of 93 mph, likely making it the fastest vehicle of its type in the world. Very large bulletproof glass windows give up to 10 occupants a relatively panoramic view for an armored vehicle, while gullwing-style doors offer easy access to its configurable interior.![punisher_3_660]()
No word on when or where it will be deployed first, but it might not be too far from headquarters. The Punisher reportedly gets just 2.3 mpg.
