    Questionable Lamborghini Pregunta prototype for sale

    Unique, in more ways than one.

    Edmunds recently named the outrageous $4 million Lamborghini Veneno “The Ugliest Car of All Time.” It was an controversial choice, to be sure. If you need proof, just check out the Lamborghini Pregunta, arguably a much more egregious example of the automaker’s sometimes questionable taste.

    Designed as a concept for then-independent Lamborghini in 1998, the Pregunta is based on the Diablo supercar and has a top speed of 207 mph, thanks or not to a body that features aircraft (or is that alien?) inspired air intake nacelles, what at the time passed for futuristic headlight clusters, and an open top split down the middle by a central roof spine. Plans to add removable bubble tops were in the works, of course.

    You may not be familiar with the Pregunta because it is finished in stealth paint from a fighter jet and has flown under the radar over the years. Lamborghini never put it into production as the automaker was purchased by Audi soon after the car came to life, and its new owner promptly killed the program as it went to work modernizing and classing up the joint. But now it’s on sale for $2.1 million, half the price of the Veneno. There’s no question it’ll turn just as many heads. Whether in admiration, or horror is up to you to find out.
