Car Companies Can be Such a Tease
Automakers used to be happy rolling a new car stage with a sheet over it before pulling it of in one fell swoop, revealing the vehicle in all of its glory. Now, more and more they like to 'leak' images of bits and pieces of a new model over the course of weeks before showing it in full. Here are a few that we should be seeing more of soon.
What is that? Maybe a taillight? Or a thorax, as one journalist jokingly suggested? All we know is that it is a glimpse at a new Lamborghini - rumored to be called the Jota - that will be unveiled at the upcoming Paris Motor Show. This one is less mysterious, but give Chrysler some credit for adding a little excitement to the launch of the 2011 200, its replacement for the very unexciting Sebring. Recently, a very basic-looking website named dontblogaboutthis.com appeared on the Internet with a series of photos and short video clips of this black camouflaged car which appears to be based on the BMW 6 Series. Ownership of the URL was later traced back to BMW, unveiling it as a would-be viral marketing campaign. Little is known about the skinny-tired vehicle, but since it moves through the videos in near silence there is very likely some sort of electric drivetrain involved. The only bit of information on the page is the line: "obviously, this is more than a 6 Series. But the car is not yet in its final stage."
