Sometimes car names are right on the money.
Bentley has unveiled its new Grand Convertible, an ultra-luxury jumbo-drop-top that’s clearly aimed to compete with the Rolls Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe.
Based on the underpinnings of the Bentley Mulsanne sedan, the Grand Convertible looks more like a yacht than most automobiles, and is just as powerful. Its 6.75-liter twin-turbo V8 produces 530 hp and 811 lb-ft of torque.
The interior is trimmed with the hides of 14 bulls and the tonneau cover constructed from book-matched burr walnut dressed with chrome strips that drive home the nautical style.
It’s just a concept at this point, unveiled to judge customer interest, so there’s no word on price. But the Mulsanne sedan sells for $303,700 and chopping the top and two doors off of it probably doesn’t mean a price cut, too.
