Ford has revealed full details on the replacement for its long-serving E-Series van, known by many as the Econoline. The European-style Transit will come with three engine choices: a flex-fuel 3.7-liter V6 that will also be available with a CNG/LPG prep kit; the 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V6 found in the F-150 pickup truck; and a 3.2-liter five-cylinder diesel that should be good for up to 30 mpg.![ftransitdash660]()
The Transit gets a modern interior design similar to many of Ford's cars, and will be available with the company's MyFord Touch infotainment and navigation system.![ftransitrear660]()
The Transit's interior is fitted with storage bins above the front seats, the cargo area was designed to accommodate various racks and shelving, and the vehicle can be equipped with doors that open up to 270-degrees.![ftransitmedroof660]()
Two different wheelbases, three different roof heights and three different body lengths will be on offer in a variety of cargo, wagon, cutaway and chassis cab models.![ftransithighroof660]()
The largest, jumbo model can carry 15 passengers or 800 cubic feet of cargo, nearly twice as much as the biggest E-Series. Pricing will be announced closer to the Transit's on sale date in the fall of next year. Read: Ford brings back the minivan, but calls it something else
