2011 Ford F-Series Super Duty

The State Fair of Texas may be known for serving up carnivore-pleasing treats like Chicken Fried Bacon and Deep Fried Butter, but Ford used the venue to introduce its new vegetable-powered pickup. The 2011 Ford F-Series Super Duty will be available with either an E85 ethanol-capable 6.2 liter V8, or a turbocharged 6.7 liter diesel V8 that can run on B20 biodiesel fuel, 20% of which is derived from agricultural sources. It is believed to be the first diesel engine offered by a major manufacturer in the United States to be factory-approved to run on a blend greater than B5. While Ford has not yet revealed specific horsepower or fuel efficiency figures for the Super Duty, it says that the truck will be able to tow a class-leading 16.5 tons of corn and soybeans to the refinery. Since biodiesel can also be produced from used cooking oil, the folks from Ford might want to think about cleaning out the deep fryers at the fair before they head back to Michigan.
