Published reports say another hiker heard folk singer Taylor Mitchell scream for help and called emergency services. Police reportedly arrived and shot one of the coyotes.
One of the coyotes believed to have bitten Taylor Mitchell, a Toronto native, was later killed by park officials and its body was sent for testing.
The young musician died from her injuries Wednesday morning, a day after she was attacked. Her MySpace and Facebook fan pages were bursting with condolences.
