A police officer says a car bomb in southwest Pakistan has killed 11 policemen and a civilian.
Fayaz Sumbal says the Thursday morning bombing on the outskirts of Quetta city has also wounded about 23 people.
He says a remote-controlled bomb in a car parked along a road targeted a vehicle carrying members of the police's special forces.
Quetta is the capital of southwestern Baluchistan province, which has been a center of low-level insurgency for years by nationalists, who want a greater share in regional natural resources.
The nationalists have also opposed the Pakistan parliamentary elections that were held May 11.
