British premier tells Gulf she's 'clear-eyed' on Iran threat

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates – British Prime Minister Theresa May has told Gulf leaders meeting in Bahrain that she's "clear-eyed" on the threat posed by Iran.

May's comments on Wednesday came at the end of a two-day summit of the Gulf Cooperation Council. The GCC bloc of Western-allied countries includes Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

May acknowledged the nuclear deal with world powers that limited Iran's ability to enrich uranium.

However, she also said that all parties must "work together to push back against Iran's aggressive regional actions, whether in Lebanon, Iraq, Yemen, Syria or in the Gulf itself."

Britain and Iran have reopened their embassies in each other's countries and exchanged ambassadors. Direct British Airways flights between London and Tehran also have resumed after the nuclear accord.
