A strong earthquake has shaken Chile's capital and other regions of the country, but there are no immediate reports of damage or injury.
The U.S. Geological Survey puts the quake's magnitude at 6.4 and says it hit at 1:20 p.m. (1620 GMT). It was centered 119 miles (192 kilometers) south of Santiago at a depth of 54 miles (87 kilometers).
Chile's navy is discounting the possibility of a tsunami.
