Turkish media are reporting an explosion near a police station in Istanbul.

NTV television and other media say the cause of the blast Thursday near the police station in Yenibosna district was not immediately known.

Turkey has been rocked by a wave of terror attacks in the past year carried out by Kurdish rebels or Islamic State group militants.
