Police in central England have arrested an 18-year-old man at Manchester airport on suspicion of Syria-related terrorism offenses.

The West Midlands Counter Terrorism Unit says the man from Birmingham was arrested after arriving in the U.K. on Saturday.

Police say there was no risk to any passengers at Manchester Airport or to the wider public.

Authorities said in a statement that the investigation is not connected to the arrests of five people in Britain in the past few days that security officials say are possibly linked to a key suspect in the deadly attacks in Paris and Brussels.
