Algerian authorities say they have recovered six Stinger anti-aircraft systems in an operation near the frontier with Tunisia during which three extremist fighters were killed.
Algeria's defense ministry said in a statement that "three dangerous terrorists" were killed in the town of Guemar on Thursday evening.
In addition to the anti-aircraft systems, military forces also seized a vast quantity of weapons including 20 Kalashnikov-type assault rifles, three rocket-launchers, explosive vests and ammunition.
Algeria is fighting ongoing battles with Islamic extremists while Tunisia has recently been targeted by a series of deadly attacks.
