BOGOTA, Colombia – The broadcast of a secretly shot video in which a prominent Colombian politician discusses sexual encounters with other men is prompting a debate about homophobia and journalistic ethics in the South American country.
President Juan Manuel Santos and other figures are sharply criticizing radio station La FM for broadcasting excerpts of a video recording in which a former senator and a police captain discuss sex and trade kisses.
On Wednesday Gen. Rodolfo Palomino resigned as head of the police over allegations of sexual misconduct with cadets. The country's inspector general says the hidden-camera video is evidence in the case, though there's no apparent evidence of anything illegal during the recording.
