Swedish security police say they have arrested a man suspected of planning terrorist-related crimes.

Sirpa Franzen, spokeswoman for Sweden's Security Service, says the man was apprehended on Thursday in Sweden but she did not give any details.

Franzen said the man had been ordered arrested in absentia on Nov. 17 on "suspicion of preparing to commit terrorist offenses," but he was not caught until Thursday.

She did not identify him or provide any other details pending a full investigation.

On Wednesday, Sweden raised the country's terror alert to the second-highest level.
