Israel has summoned Sweden's ambassador for clarification following remarks by Stockholm's foreign minister linking the attacks in Paris to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Israel's Foreign Ministry on Monday called the comments by Margot Wallstrom "appallingly impudent," saying anyone who links "radical Islamist attacks and the current situation between Israel and the Palestinians is fooling himself."

When asked the day after the Paris attacks about the radicalization of young people in Sweden who fight for the Islamic State, Wallstrom said: "Here, once again, we are brought back to situations like the one in the Middle East, where not least the Palestinians see that there is no future. We must either accept a desperate situation or resort to violence."
