ATHENS, Greece – Greece's justice minister says he wants criminal charges to be brought against the people responsible for leaking and publishing taped conversations allegedly between members of the governing party and left-wing radicals convicted of terrorism.
In a lawsuit tabled at the Supreme Court Wednesday, Nikos Paraskevopoulos claimed the leaks constitute a breach of state secrets and abuse of classified documents.
Yiannis Panoussis, a respected criminologist and former public order minister, has accused members of the governing Syriza party of being in close contact with anarchists convicted of terrorism. He presented his claims to prosecutors Monday, and excerpts of the alleged conversations — taped by security services — were aired by Greek media.
Panoussis also claimed he had received death threats from anarchists and crime bosses.
