A Bosnian court has convicted and sentenced four men for recruiting and attempting to join the Islamic State group in Syria and Iraq.
The Bosnian State Court said Tuesday that Husein Erdic was sentenced to 3 ½ years for having organized the trip for Nevad Husidic and Merim Keserovic, who were each sentenced to one year.
The fourth, Midhat Trako, was found guilty of having financed the trip and will serve 1 ½ years. Bosnia's intelligence service has been monitoring groups and individuals suspected of financing and recruiting fighters, and the four were arrested in February.
To prevent Bosnians from becoming foreign fighters, Bosnia introduced jail terms last year of up to 10 years for those who fight or recruit for wars abroad.
