Thousands of supporters of twice-ousted Haitian President Jean-Bertrand Aristide are flocking to his home just outside the capital following a campaign rally by the political party he founded.
Growing numbers of Fanmi Lavalas party backers are chanting and waving photos of Aristide in his Tabarre neighborhood. They say they are hoping to catch a glimpse of the ex-leader or hear him speak.
Haitian police are keeping an eye on the partisans as they march from Port-au-Prince.
They began traveling to his home after the party's presidential candidate told a Wednesday rally that Aristide was waiting for them outside his house.
Lavalas leader Maryse Narcisse made the comments after officially launching her bid to become Haiti's next president. The first round of the presidential vote is scheduled for Oct. 25.
