French authorities are searching the Indian Ocean for apparent debris spotted by a jet pilot in roughly the same area where a wing part from the missing Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 was discovered.

An Air France official says a crew from their airline reported seeing something white floating in water about 35 miles (56 kilometers) north of the French island of Reunion.

The regional administration for Reunion said Tuesday that a military plane searched the area, but despite clear skies and seas, did not find anything.

After the wing part was found in July, French authorities searched a large area of the ocean for more debris. Several items were found but none had links to the Malaysian plane, which disappeared more than a year ago with 239 people aboard.
