Two people have reportedly died as a strong tropical storm sweeps across western Japan.
Tropical Storm Nangka caused serious flooding Friday morning and disrupted air and train travel as it crossed the island of Shikoku and the main Japanese island of Honshu.
Public broadcaster NHK and Kyodo News agency report that two elderly men died in Hyogo prefecture while getting ready for the storm.
A 71-year-old man died after injuring his head while reinforcing window glass and Kyodo News reports that the body of an 85-year-old man was found after he apparently went outside to check a farming canal.
Japan's Fire and Disaster Management Agency says authorities are also checking a report that a person was washed away in Saitama prefecture, near Tokyo.
