VILNIUS, Lithuania – Lithuania's Defense Ministry says the wreckage of a small plane that went missing three days ago over the Baltic Sea has been found on the seafloor.
The ministry said search crews using remote-controlled underwater cameras spotted the Soviet-built An-2 aircraft Tuesday at a depth of 124 meters. (407 feet). There was no word on the fate of the two pilots on board.
The plane disappeared Saturday en route from Goteborg, Sweden, to the Lithuanian port city of Klaipeda. Air traffic controllers last heard from the Lithuanian pilots of the single-engine plane when it was 120 kilometers (75 miles) from Lithuania's coast.
The Defense Ministry said the wreckage was found near that location. The cause of the crash was unclear.
