Italian police say a man opened fire with a pump-action shotgun in a Naples suburb, killing first his brother and sister-in-law at home, then killing two other people and wounding six as he shot from a balcony.
The police said the man, a 48-year-old nurse, surrendered to officers and was being questioned Friday evening at Naples police headquarters.
The other dead included a florist who lived near the home in the Secondigliano suburb and a traffic police officer who rushed to the scene after the first shots. Among those reported wounded were four police officers, a passer-by and another traffic police agent who was said to be in serious condition.
Police said the motive for the killings was still unclear and the gunman had a sports permit for the shotgun.
