Authorities in the Dominican Republic have detained a U.S. man they say forced a New York-bound JetBlue flight to turn back because he made drunken threats to detonate a terrorist bomb.
Airport security officials said in a statement Friday that the incident forced the plane to return to Santo Domingo. Officials closed a terminal for several hours and a least seven other flights were delayed following Thursday's incident.
Authorities did not identify the man, who is scheduled to appear in court soon. Prosecutors said they plan to charge him with violations of civil aviation security. He could face between three to 10 years in prison if found guilty.
