The Kenya Red Cross says 54 people have been killed in Kenya's northern region in fighting that police say was started by a cattle raid.
The Kenya Red Cross said Wednesday five people are critically wounded and 350 people had been displaced from their homes in the attack at Nadome village in Turkana County
Police said the attacks began Monday when armed raiders believed from the Pokot community attacked a village of the Turkana and stole animals, killing seven people. Gunmen from the Turkana community retaliated that night.
Livestock-keeping nomadic tribes in Kenya's north routinely engage in the traditional practice of cattle raids which experts say has become more deadly because the tribes have moved from using spear and arrows to guns.
