British police say they have arrested a 21-year-old woman arriving from Istanbul on suspicion of preparing terrorist acts.

The Metropolitan Police said the British woman was arrested Thursday morning at Luton airport. She was being questioned at a London police station.

On Tuesday Turkish authorities arrested a 21-year-old British woman at an Ankara bus stop on suspicion of trying to travel to Islamic State-controlled territory in Syria.

British police would not say whether the suspect arrested Thursday was the same woman, one of a spate of young British travelers who have passed through Turkey en route to Syria.

Last week, three British teens were detained by Turkish authorities after arriving from Spain, and deported to Britain.

Last month three British girls aged 15 and 16 traveled to Syria through Turkey.
