A suspected car thief in California thought black-face would help him evade the cops.
Police officers in Madera, California, said José Espinoza, 23, spray-painted his head and neck black in hopes of avoiding capture over the weekend.
According to ABC affiliate KFSN, Espinoza had allegedly taken off from a stolen car after police tracked him down. They saw straight through his attempted disguise.
“The camouflage was ineffective,” the police department wrote on Facebook.
Espinoza faces charges of receiving stolen property and unlawful taking or driving of a vehicle.
