Bosnian police have detained a State Court judge suspected of receiving a bribe from two convicts — one of them a former police commissioner — previously sentenced for involvement in organized crime.

The court said Thursday that Appeals Chamber Judge Azra Miletic was detained Wednesday evening and that she is still only a suspect under investigation. Still, the statement said, the detention should serve to show citizens that nobody in Bosnia is above the law.

Former police commissioner Ramo Brkic was initially sentenced to 11 years, and his alleged partner in drug dealing and corruption, Senad Sabic, received 10 years. The Appeals Chamber later partially revoked the verdict and ordered a retrial.
