Russia has circulated a draft resolution in the United Nations Security Council endorsing the latest cease-fire agreement on Ukraine and calling on all parties involved to carry it out.
U.N. diplomats say the council is expected to meet Sunday to vote on the resolution, just hours after the cease-fire is to take effect.
The resolution, if adopted, would be the rare action the council has been able to take on the year-long crisis in Ukraine. The council has met close to 30 times on the issue, but Russia as a permanent council member could veto any proposed action it dislikes.
The United States and other council members have repeatedly accused Russia of backing separatists in eastern Ukraine, which Russia denies.
Russia's resolution expresses "grave concern at the tragic events" there.
