DUBAI, United Arab Emirates – The United Arab Emirates' state news agency says the Gulf nation dispatched a medical plane to bring three sisters home nearly 10 months after they were attacked by a hammer-wielding intruder in their luxury London hotel room.
The WAM news agency said the trip Saturday evening was arranged on the orders of Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
Khuloud, Ohoud and Fatima al-Najjar had been receiving medical treatment in Britain following the April 6 attack at the Cumberland Hotel in London. Ohoud had to have part of her brain removed, along with one eye, and can no longer speak.
Attacker Philip Spence was found guilty of attempted murder in November. An appeals court last week increased his prison sentence to a minimum of 27 years.
