Two people have pleaded not guilty to charges of leaving pressure cooker bombs at British Columbia's provincial legislature on Canada Day, when thousands of people were expected to be there.
Jury selection began Tuesday in Vancouver for John Nuttall and Amanda Korody, who were arrested in July 2013. They were charged with knowingly facilitating a terrorist activity, conspiracy and making or possessing an explosive device.
Police said in 2013 that pair targeted the Canada Day celebrations, but the bombs were found outside the legislature before the crowds gathered.
Police have said the two were inspired by al-Qaida ideology but were self-radicalized. Police called it a domestic threat without international connections.
Many of the details of the allegations are covered by a publication ban.
The trial is to begin Feb. 2.
