A Yemeni presidential delegation says a Shiite rebel group has refused to stop their anti-government protests.
Spokesman Abdel-Malek al-Mikhlafi said Sunday the delegation would head back to the capital, Sanaa, to discuss the situation with the president after the Hawthis rejected their draft proposal calling for a new government and a review of the country's economic policies to halt the demonstrations.
Al-Mikhlafi said on his official Facebook page that the delegation's proposal was "met with rejection, intransigence and insistence on ignoring the reality and the risks."
The negotiations took place in the northern Yemeni city of Saada.
Since Monday, the Hawthis have held massive rallies and set up tents near ministries in the capital, demanding the government's ouster and the reversal of a recent decision to end fuel subsidies.
