UN chief nuclear inspector: Iran cooperating with probe of suspicions that it worked on nukes

The U.N.'s chief nuclear inspector says Iran now is showing some cooperation with a long-stalled probe of suspicions that It worked secretly on nuclear weapons.

Yuikya Amano of the U.N.'s International Atomic Energy Agency spoke Monday after meetings in Tehran with Iranian President Hasan Rouhani and other top Iranian officials.

The IAEA probe of the suspicions has been stalemated since it began seven years ago. Both sides agreed to intensify efforts late last year.

Amano says he was able to "follow up" on his investigation of detonators that could have been used in nuclear-weapons related work. He also says his agency and Iran also are discussing two other experiments that may have been linked to such arms.

Iran insists it never worked on — or wants — nuclear weapons.
