Egypt: 2 killed in clashes between Islamist protesters and residents

An Egyptian security official says clashes between supporters and opponents of ousted Islamist President Mohammed Morsi have killed two people.

The official says the fighting Friday came as dozens of protesters demonstrated in the Giza district of the capital, where they set off fireworks. Four policemen were wounded when security forces moved in to disperse the crowds.

Another security official says protesters set fire to a public bus in Cairo after forcing the driver and passengers out.

The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to brief reporters.

Four people were killed in similar violence on Thursday, the anniversary of the forceful dispersal of pro-Morsi Cairo sit-ins in which hundreds of demonstrators were killed.
