Police say a bomb has ripped through a popular bus station in northern Nigeria, killing one person and injuring eight others.

Kano State Police Commissioner Aderenle Shinaba blamed the attack on "terrorists" that entered the motor park with a bomb inside a bag. He said the bomb was concealed in a refridgerator when it exploded.

Rose Charles, who sells rice and plantain in the bus station, said she saw three bodies after the blast. Charles also narrowly escaped a bombing in a nearby bus station in March that killed 30 people.

Kano is outside the region of Nigeria under emergency rule, but it has been a frequent target of attacks by Boko Haram militants, who have killed thousands of people in five years of insurgency.
