An employment tribunal has found that London's Metropolitan Police discriminated against a black female officer because of sexism and racism.
The tribunal also found that police investigators looking into the matter were asked to delete all references to sex and race discrimination in a file dealing with the case.
The case involves 35-year-old Carol Howard, a firearms officer in the Diplomatic Protection Group. The tribunal said she had been "singled out and targeted" as a woman and a black.
The Metropolitan Police, also known as Scotland Yard, said in a statement Wednesday it was disappointed by the tribunal's finding. The department also denied that staff had been instructed to delete references to race or sex discrimination.
