Match-fixer Perumal denies predicting result of World Cup game involving Cameroon

Convicted match fixer Wilson Raj Perumal is denying that he predicted Cameroon's 4-0 loss to Croatia at the World Cup and a player's sending off, claims which prompted an investigation into feared corruption on the team.

In a statement issued through the co-authors of his biography, Perumal said: "I did not predict the result of the Cameroon vs Croatia match played on June 18."

Germany's Der Spiegel alleged that in an online chat ahead of the match Perumal correctly predicted the score of the Croatia game and that Cameroon would have a player sent off in the first half.

But Perumal said: "The Facebook chat with the Der Spiegel journalist took place a few days after the match - June 21st, as confirmed by my Facebook log."
