Police in South Africa have arrested a man they say was caught eating the heart of his ex-girlfriend’s new lover.
The man was using a fork and a knife to eat the heart of the 62-year-old victim, who was stabbed in the chest and neck and bitten in the face, police told the BBC.
The grisly attack happened in the Gugulethu township near Cape Town. The suspect, identified only as a Zimbabwean international, is due to be formally charged in court on Thursday or Friday.
Western Cape Deputy Police Commissioner Sharon Jephta told the BBC that responding police officers and witnesses have been offered counseling to help cope with the trauma.
