The office of South African President Jacob Zuma says he has been discharged from a hospital after a weekend checkup.

Zuma's office said in a statement Monday that the 72-year-old left the hospital on Sunday evening after tests following a demanding schedule.

A presidential official, Jeff Radebe, says Zuma will continue to rest for a few days and will work mostly from home.

Last month, Zuma was inaugurated for a second five-year term following the election victory of the ruling African National Congress party.
