Tropical Storm Amanda weakens a bit; still poses no threat to Mexico's coast

Amanda is weakening after being downgraded from a hurricane to a tropical storm. It still poses no threat to land far off Mexico's Pacific coast.

The storm's maximum sustained winds were about 65 mph (100 kph) on Wednesday. The U.S. National Hurricane Center said weakening should continue.

It was centered about 560 miles (905 kilometers) south-southwest of the southern tip of Mexico's Baja California peninsula and was moving northeast at 3 mph (6 kph).
