Gunmen attack police guarding home of Tunisian interior minister, killing 4

Tunisia's Interior Ministry says gunmen attacked the home of the country's top security official, killing four of the police guarding it.

The statement said the attack on Interior Minister Lotfi Ben Jeddou's home in the southern city of Kasserine took place just before midnight Tuesday.

Kasserine, in Tunisia's impoverished interior, is not far from Mount Chaambi, where soldiers have been battling al-Qaida-linked extremists near the Algerian border. Two soldiers were killed Friday when their vehicle hit a mine on the mountain.

Tunisia recently announced a string of successful security operations against the Islamist radicals.
