Cyprus' main airport evacuated after telephone call about suspicious package

Cyprus' communications minister says the island's main airport in Larnaca has been ordered evacuated after a telephone call to police warning of a possible bomb.

Marios Demetriades told the Associated Press Tuesday that the caller spoke of a "suspicious package" inside one of the airport's washrooms.

Demetriades said police are now conducting a sweep of the airport.

The evacuation comes a day before U.S. Vice President Joe Biden's three-day visit to the east Mediterranean island.
