A Kenyan court has issued an arrest warrant for a journalist wanted by the International Criminal Court for interfering with witnesses in the crimes against humanity trial of Deputy President William Ruto.

Judge Richard Mwongo issued the arrest warrant Wednesday for journalist Walter Barasa, who had attempted to stop his arrest in January through a court application.

Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta and Ruto face crimes against humanity charges for the 2007-08 postelection violence in Kenya, when more than 1,000 people were killed. Kenyatta's case has not yet started in full and is at risk of collapse due to a lack of witnesses. The case against Ruto is believed to be on more solid ground.
