Violence has flared in Indian-controlled Kashmir as Indians vote in national elections.
Paramilitary police spokesman Kishore Prasad said an explosion in a polling booth injured a paramilitary soldier. Three other troops were wounded when suspected militants opened fired at them. No voters were injured and few details were available.
Police said scores of protesters have also clashed with patrolling soldiers who used tear gas to quell the protests.
With 814 million eligible voters, India is voting in phases over six weeks, with results expected May 16.
People in seven states are voting on Wednesday, the penultimate day of voting in the election.
